FRIDAY: I attended Val's OCS Tango Wing 75/09 (I think...) Social Night (end of service term) @Marriot Hotel =D It. Was. Interesting~! He cab-ed from his house to mine and then the Uncle took PIE to town instead of ECP so we kinda got stuck a bit in a jam, poor Val, 'cos the cab fare amounted to quite a hefty sum. But he shrugged it off, saying that OCS pays you more each month for such miscalleneous costs. Haha... And he had to purchase a blazer for this event because the Head of OCS was supposedly coming but he pang-seh eventually, but there you go, all the guys overflowing with charisma -not to mention stiffness as well- in those smart looking threads.
It was kinda awkard when we first got there because everyone was literally stiff and so, um, FORMAL. I credit the blazer for that. The guys shook hands and introduced their dates to one another, come to think of it, it was pretty amusing. Lol. *Imagine*
The guys had to go for etiquette classes so during the evening, every now and then, you'd see them practising what they've mastered. Val too, so I got be treated like a lady. Pulling out the chair for her to sit... serving her the food first... ensuring she has a drink... stuff like that. I know it sounds so cringe-worthy but trust me, when a guy does it, no matter who he might be, it's bound to set hearts a flutter. Then again, do it all the time and I swear I would think that fella's a player, hurh hurh.
Dinner was not bad, but the food kept coming so after a while, you get pretty full, and pretty much scared why there's so much for you to eat. Ohya, Val said they had to pay $70/person for the dinner, but his extra pay covered that cost as well.
The friends he chose to sit with at the same table were all pretty amicable people, so the night wasn't so bad. There were a couple of performances, familiar faces in the crowd, lucky draws, informal awards, formal awards, and of course, a hugeass dose of humour =D I enjoyed myself, so Thank You Val, for everything!
Eehwee went to meet JF today and I believe during the first meet-up, her word goes. So she got him to go somewhere near the hotel and that made seeing him possible for me.
I don't even dare to expose what I surmise what kinda guy he would be like after meeting him for the very first time, for fear that my choice of words would conjure a mental image too inconceivable for the human mind. I admit, I'm DAMN BIASED. But I'm sure Eehwee can totally understand why (:
And girl, I don't want you to get hurt. Please take care of that fragile heart, because you have so much to give.
SATURDAY: My wish has been fulfiled! I cycled to Mount Faber today. Nonwithstanding the fact we got lost several times along the way thanks to my geh kiang-ness (act smart-ness), HEH. But still, we made it there and we even went to walk the Henderson's waves, the Hilltop walk and the Forest walk (= It's not something you get to do everyday I'm tellin' you. And you'd be awed at how much of Singapore you don't know existed.
For the record, I'm not the only one who's geh kiang. AJ kept 'flying' off kerbs, even after warnings from someone who burst a tire once while attempting similar stunts and had to dismount and push the bike some distance to get it repaired -.-, and inevitable, it became Deja Vu because he burst his tire too! LOL!
It was funny, until we realised we were in the middle of Raffles Quay and no businessman in the right frame of mind would open a bicycle shop in the heart of the business district. That literally translates into a super looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong walk back to the kallang area to get it repaired in the vicinity.
And while cycling today, we met plenty of Angels & Devils. The Angels bothered to give way to us at zebra crossings, they politely siam-ed for us to pass along the walkways (although they have the right of way), and they *smiled* when we passed them (what darlings!). And the Devils, (in a menacing tone), simply sped up when they saw us approaching the zebra crossings (those few seconds of waiting for us to cross won't kill you, I swear. But speeding up when people are crossing might kill them! >.<) and some gave us dirty looks when we tried to go around them on the walkways (we were doing so in a courteous manner of course!).
Ahhhh... but the Angel who made all things good, and who more than negated the negative karma we were accumulating from all those Devils, was this Father -who was with his son on the bridge leading to the Indoor Stadium- who spotted AJ's punctured tire and immediately guided us to the nearest bike shop in Tanjong Rhu. WHAT A DEAR RIGHT! I get sucha GOOOOOOD~ feelin' when I meet such nice people. I think that little kid's so lucky to have such a great Dad. I wanna emulate such kinda actions in future =D
Too bad the shop he pointed out to us didn't do regular bicycles, that fella only does air bikes. Hmp. So we continued our neverending search for a precious bike shop that could resolve our wheel-y woes. As luck would have it, the wondering in the correct direction paid off and AJ finally got that tire repaired. YAY, now we can go back to cycling! It was tiring, but FUN, but seriously tiring. I think it's because I slept little the night before. And the blardy sun was happily cooking our skin. AJ's tone is that of a well-cooked lobster whereas mine's that of an overcooked beef patty. Wa lao...
Still, Thanks AJ -might I add- for the awesome 9 hours of constant travelling. LOL, and please don't feel bad la. We all learn from mistakes right? Even if they are silly ones ;p
