Selections.

THURSDAY: I happily went around telling my students that it was my last day. It's nice to know that some of them will actually miss me =D

I bought home that DAMN GOOD selegie soya bean milk with pearls - heaven on earth!

FRIDAY: Today's my selection test for the NEW Scholarship. It's pretty interesting... lemme give a run through of what was done. All in all, 17 of us turned up. The ratio, 3 girls : 14 guys -.-

First of all, we were introduced to the panel of people who were gonna judge on based on the activities that were to be carried out. Next was an activity where we can to get into our pre-assigned groups, blindfolded, and use the materials i.e. straws, newspapers, wooden blocks, lego blocks to build a tower. Not easy, if you try to do it without sight involved.

There were 3 groups and mine was the only group where the tower didn't stand. So after the session, there's this dude Wen Wei from Lifeskills, who conducted the discussion that followed. His job was to post questions to us and put us in a tight spot to see how we would react under pressure. You know... that kind! YAH!

After which, we were each given turns to speak on an impromptu speech topic. Some of these topics were like 'Social Graces', 'See How', 'A day with the president', 'OK lah', 'Why me?'... you get the gist of it. Pretty out of the world short phrases that were meant to be thought provoking. After about half of us were done, we went for a tea session which doubled up as an opportunity for us to interact with the panel of people who were gonna access us.

Once tea was done, I started the ball rolling for the rest of us who haven't given our speeches yet. Mine was easy: The most important lesson I learned in school. HAHA =D Lucky right! After which, we had another acitivity where we were given a list of 17 people and their descriptions e.g. Male, gay, construction worker, 27 years old or 3 month old baby and all sorts of other weird descriptions... Anyway, these are the only people left on earth after a nuclear bomb but the shelter can only take 11 people. My group of 6 had to choose 6 people to eliminate, in other words, condemn to death.

We wrote these names down on a whiteboard and each of us had to write our name next to one of the persons our group had chosen to kick out of the shelter. Initially, we were told that we had to role play how to tell this person that he/she would have to be kicked out of the shelter. Then came the twist, we were now supposed to argue the case for why this person should actually BE inside the nuclear shelter instead of somebody else.

So as you can see, where the tables have turned, we had to improvise. Another discussion session came along... finally, END! But not really the end either. There was this sit-down Chinese 7 course lunch with the personnel accessing us. Pretty fun finally being able to let our hair down and just speak normally to the panel of judges.

Following that hearty lunch was a tour of the NEW Environment Conservation Gallery. We were led by this young lady called Vivian who conducted the tour for the very first time so she was practically reading off the script she held in hand but she was very cute! The little remarks she made along the way. The whole day was a really good experience. Even if I don't get through for the interview next week, which I'm highly sure is the case, at least I took something away from this learning experience (=

Oh yes, and I made a new friend who actually lives in BEDOK! ^^

After that, it was BOB time. And dinner with BingSheng
*shag* Being in heels and formal attire for 15 hours is no joke! >.<
