My group had a nice ratio of 8 girls to 8 guys. A little huge but the people made good first impressions, so all's good to go I guess. We made our way to SparkC and that's where we were gonna be for the entire 3-day duration. It's my first time there and the place's way bigger than it looks on the outside.
Food was catered, and it was GOOD, as far as camps go anyway. Four different dishes, with at least two meat ones, and a generous helping of rice. My clan's called MAGNUM - as in guns, and not the ice-cream. But our team name still became I-Scream anyway =D The other four clans were Venus, Musashi, Blackjack and Techna. All these clan allegiance just brings me back to my HC days!
Our first activity was called the Boundless Room - we were placed in an open area along with the members of other groups and we had to find each other, link arms, grab a rope and form a star shape. Catch is, we're blindfolded and there was to be no verbal communication!
We had time before each activity to plan and simulate, and after it ends, we were to have a debrief. For this first activity, my team completed the task the last -.- Oh well. During debrief, we had to share our feelings, lessons learned and application of what's been learned. Very old school right. Oh yes, they also told us we were to report to our faci whenever we wanted to go someplace, and we could not run within the compound. Hooray, it's primary school all over again.
We did rafting after that. And how coincidentally, my entire group had NO ONE who knew how to tie knots. Our raft looked good when it was upside down, but when we finally turned it over to place it on the choppy waters of the sea, one barrel came unsecured and after countless tries to rectify the problem, it was evident we couldn't use our raft anymore.
We had to borrow the raft from another group, and the guys in my group were complaining about how embarrassing it was to have to resort to that just to go out to sea to complete a task. Ha ha...
After dinner, we had Night Games and that was fun! =D Cleaning up and washing up was done by 1am. But then the problem of having to sleep in a tent arose. It was blardy warm. With 4 girls crammed in tent, it's no joke (of course the guys complain that they have it worst, which is damn true). Finally, fatigue took the better of me and I slept at 3 plus.
LAST MONDAY: Woke up bright and early to rush to wait, and then wait to rush. Our first activity of the day was Invincible Dominoes. It's something like those Spider Web activities, where the whole group cannot touch the strings.
This activity has a twist to it though, we can touch the string but suspended in the middle of this spider web is a platform in which we had to place dominoes on. So it's damn obvious if we come into too much contact with the strings because then the dominoes will fall. Wa lao, that kinda game is stressful!
It began to rain really heavily so we moved to this indoor station called Right Way Out. This is the game where half of the members will be blindfolded and these members will be able to see the right path to take to cross a particular grid without stepping on the 'mines'. It's definitely not as easy as it sounds...
We did tunneling after this, and it was super cool because you go through this whole maze in pitch darkness. We had to crawl, climb, slide through pretty narrow obstacles, so most of the time we were hunched as we made our way through the darkness. It's an experience =)
The rest of the day was for us to plan for the campfire on that night. We were to put up a skit and a cheer. A bunch of us were in the skit team but there wasn't much for us to do so we pretty much wasted time away by providing eye power. In the end, somehow, I got involved in the cheer and it boiled down to me leading the cheers. Ha ha. It was F.U.N! It's this high you get when you lead cheers man.
We got 4th for cheering, but FIRST for our skit!!! Woohoo, the skit was really deserving of that position because it was downright Hi-la-ri-ous la! They had a clubbing-sortof-dancing session after that, and I always feel so self-conscious because I know I can't dance for nuts la. But I still got damn high because the songs had that kinda beat which gives you that kinda groove. Wow-wheee!
That night, 7 of us huddled in a tent and talked till 3 plus before the senior facis got so nagging, we decided to actually go sleep. I learned what H.T.H.T. stands for - Heart to Heart talk! And I also learned what Traffic Light stands for - your relationship status. What the hell, I thought it was some random game!
LAST TUESDAY: Rise and shine at 6 plus again. Today's the day of our Final Challenge, which is this whole series of 10 fun-filled games within ECP. It's really blood pumping because it's super hiong, super chiong, and super tiring. We ran between stations and that's pure torture when you're surviving on 3 hours of sleep/night and your limbs burn from the previous station AND I was somehow left to carry the flag while running. Say ARGGGGHHHHHH! But I admit, I had a FABULOUS time (=
MAGNUM... woooosh! =D

The Friends... (some of them anyway)
