All at Once

There has been so much happening recently, so much on my mind. Sigh. DAMN.

Anyway, let’s move back in time before my short-term memory kicks in.

Friday: I went back to Changkat to give Math tuition to the juniors again. It was raining so darn heavily so my shoes were so squishy and my pants were drenched, EW, don’t we all hate that feeling? This time, I saw many of our dear teachers – Ms Ling, Mrs Pinto, Mrs Myreen Hoe, Mr Nahar, Mdm Roziah, Mdm Adibah, Ms Chan’s husband, that tall lanky PE teacher who looks pretty young, Mr Ho, Mr Barry Lim, Ms Cecilia, Mr Choong, that Indian clerk who is always preening herself in the mirror (Shem will know! Haha!)… that should be all. It’s so nice to be seeing all these familiar faces! Oh yes! And I went up to the Principal, Mrs Yeow (I realised I don’t know how to spell her name), to introduce myself. She’s a pleasant looking lady, tall definitely. Or you could see it the other way, I’m short, yes I’m fully aware. And she sounded like she was speaking to me in whispers. I kept thinking to myself throughout our 10++ minute conversation (I’m surprised myself it lasted that long) if I was speaking too loudly, because I think I could only hear my voice resonating off the walls of her spacious office. Oh, and Ms Cecilia said she might just be able to find me a relief teaching job to do after the school’s March holidays. Note, Might. And she asked me to prep myself because apparently, one of the teacher’s daughter taught the N(A) or N(T) classes and she ended up in tears. Unsurprising, considering how 2E1 was able to achieve that with a couple of teachers too. Those were the days…

After that, I headed down to IDP Australia Centre in Singapore, all the way at RELC building. This journey there made me more certain than ever that some things are really fated. Let’s cut the superfluous bits, so as fate had it, I met my junior on the train but due to human congestion, I could only wave Hello. We both got off at City Hall and he asked me where I was headed. Turns out, we were both going to Orchard Station (because that’s where he lives, VERY RICH INDEED) and his mum was there to pick him up! Thank my lucky stars! So I was able to hitch a ride there, YAYYY, save adult bus fare. There, at the centre, I met this really affable guy who was really helpful. His friendly disposition had me talking to him like an old friend in a matter of minutes, but his work must either be very tiring or very mundane because he kept yawning while I was talking to him. Oh wait, maybe because I’m boring. Anyway, his name is really unique: Dexton. Cool right! I asked if his brother is Dextor, he said yeah but he was sniggering, makes me wonder. And I realised I could have actually saved AUD$100 on my Melbourne U application if I had gone through him, argggh, darn it.

Saturday: It was a slow day and due to certain chain of events that occurred the night before, the tension hanging in the air was pretty suffocating. But everything turned out fine, thankfully. Dinner was at my grandma’s and the food was simply DELICIOUS! She cooked this signature dish of hers, mutton soup. Those who’ve dined with me would be aware that I’m a very boring chicken-fish kinda person and red meat’s not usually on my platter but my grandma’s one is good! Then again, I ate a little only because the shape of the meat looks weird. Heh.

After dinner, guess what! My dad brought me to the IT fair to get a LAPTOP. YESSSSSSS! So my brother and I went scouting first while they went to find a parking lot. 1st stop: Sony VIAO. Pretty laptops really, style is synonymous man. So this guy called Jeric (unique name again) attended to me. But because it was pricey, we decided to look for other brands. He left me his number so I could go find him later if I decide to purchase one from him so he can earn his comission but my brother was nagging about how he Wanted me to have his number, blah blah. 2nd stop: ASUS. A pretty good deal, a guy called James was our salesperson. He looked pretty blur. The both of us kinda liked it, but we decided to research more. 3rd stop: Fujitsu. A little more expensive than the second stop and the specs are more or less similar. Oh and since my elder brother always complained that his Fujitsu laptop’s sound system suck, we enquired about this and the salesperson told us that indeed that was true. Don’t want it already. 4th stop: MAC. Wow, they really throw in quite a lot of freebies that you probably won’t be able to get anywhere outside, I think. But considering the specs, the ASUS one was still the best bargain. So we headed back. I bargained with James and managed to get a pretty good all in one Canon printer which prints super duper fast from him, along with a 1 year Norton protection for $50. So it was settled! $1848 for everything =)

Finally, I have a baby laptop! It’s pink, with pretty funky designs on the cover, and it’s fairly light at 1.9kg+. And it comes complete with a pink mouse! AND it’s actually scented too, like what the hell. My Dad came near it and he complained about the scent, haha. But hey, it’s Girrrrrl~ enough. That said, I don’t LOVEEE pink, but the fact that it’s my first laptop, I adore everything about it. And I even wasted so much time personalizing it, like changing some of the icons into the L’Amour series inspired ones, and changing the Mozilla firefox theme. I know, I’m so bored! But it all looks really good now! She’s my pride and joy man!

Sunday: My Dad apparently lost the receipt for the laptop so my guaranteed warranty for the laptop vanished. Therefore, I had to go down bright and early to the IT fair AGAIN to wrangle another receipt from the people there. SO FRIGGIN' CROWDED. James saw me and he was like, *super blur face* “Why are you here?” So I explained my situation and as luck had it, I couldn’t get my receipt there and then. I got the person in charge to scan his carbon copy and email it to me, so I don’t have to make another trip down to Funan IT Mall. Save bus fare. I headed to my ah ma’s house after that and later on to my cousin’s house to watch ‘Bermuda Triangle’. I never knew there was a movie on it and it actually spans 3 discs, which took up 4.5 hours. WAAAH, movie marathons are tiring eh!

Monday (today!): I finished up the personal statement that I’ve been postponing for quite a while now. And it’s actually 4k characters, inclusive of spacings, and not 4k words! Luckily. Or it would be like writing a report. Thanks Maria for pointing that out to me, or else I would have written that 4k words and gone to heaven when I realised it’s actually 4k characters.

Darrell KOP my laptop to Boey’s house today for his birthday party and he’s actually gonna stay overnight! So that means my baby laptop will have to bunk with him, hmph. That bugger. He stole the portable hard disk drive too.

And I actually ran my East Coast loop today! After a week of not running, aw, how unhealthy. But no choice, gotta at least get myself conditioned because I’m gonna run with AJ on Wednesday morning!

Finally I’m done! Oh, and tomorrow there’s BADMINTON!!! OHYEAH! AJ Rocks for planning!=)
