BADMINTON today was super fun! Probably because I haven’t played it in a while, the last time was with Ryan and that was a couple of weeks back! AJ and I warmed up as soon as we touch down on the courts at Tampines, haha! It feels so good to be swinging that racket and getting the shuttles to flyyyyyyy. Better still if bits of their feathers fly off. WHEE~ A pity Ange and Linc couldn’t make it due to a change in timing at the last minute. So it was just AJ, Jonk, John, Niku, Val, Benji and one of their hockey friends, I think. I haven’t seen him in TJ before. AJ was generous enough to book three courts! Playing singles was super tiring, and by the time I had been playing for an hour and a half, I was super duper shag already. Benji was still happily running around barefooted rushing here and there to save the shots. Beats me why he doesn’t wanna wear his shoes. He told me that going around like this would cause him to develop blisters but that he’s already used to it, because he does this on a weekly basis -.- Anyway, the last half hour I swear, was drop-dead EXHASUTING man.
After that, it was lunch! By that time, everyone was so very famished already; it didn’t take very long to decide where to eat. WM came to join us too! AJ and I predicted correctly the colours that he would be wearing! So fun! After lunch, we started slacking at the food court because everyone just had their tummies filled, I guess no one wanted to walk around. Not that we had anything to do anyway. The question “OKAYYYYY, so what do we do NOWWWW???” popped up at least 20 times today! It was pretty amusing but very typical actually, 2E1 has such a track record too! Willfred would know! ^^ Ultimately, (YES you’re right!) we all headed home! Tired huh, I would think. I know I am, but no doubt I had tons of fun! And it was nice meeting all of them again, WM especially, I haven’t seen him in ages!
And tomorrow, I’m going for my morning run! Talk about being healthy, like AJ said, it’s full throttle exercising three days in a row man! I feel like going cycling on Thursday, I should start asking around, so I can make it four days! Record eh!
Oh, and I have to mention about University application stuff again. But this time, it’s about the scholarship. MAN. First things first, Brightsparks is flooding my mailbox! And I know I’m not the only one, I heard the guys complaining about this too today. Seriously man, they keep sending and sending and sending, I have half a mind to put them into my junk folder again. I was being so nice by transferring them to my Inbox folder, grrr, but they’re abusing their privilege! ;p AND I also didn’t realise scholarship applications are so damn tough! Like, they have 4 levels of selection process that you have to undergo. 1st: A face-to-face interview with one of their administrative officers. 2nd: A written selection test. 3rd: Some sort of camp or day activity where you have to attend so you can display your leadership qualities. 4th: Another interview, but this time with the senior management. God, I think they wanna grill every single interviewee and see which ones turn out fine and which ones turn ‘chao ta’, and then they’ll reject the bad ones. So mean, torture already then throw away. But then again, it’s quite a lot of money we’re talking about so I guess such is necessary. Still, FOUR levels eh! Even getting a job doesn’t entail such a rigorous selection process man.
OH! And today I arrived home to a pleasant surprise! My brother sent me a card all the way from Jandakot, Australia! AWWW! I’m such a sucker for receiving things such as cards, I think it’s one of the nicest gestures anyway can ever do and it barely costs anything. Next time you’re thinking of a really great present, send a card by snail mail. We live in a day and age where such things have become passé, how unfortunate. But at least don’t send cards where all that’s written inside are those pre-printed words, rather make it personal and at least take the effort to pen down something. That would be so very sweet! =D Thanks, kor! Here’s the postcard, and he included some origami dogs! I’m really touched…

This brings me to my birthday, it’s happening in 3 days time! Fast huh. Not that I mind being 19, I think with every age that you reach, something special will happen in that year, perhaps not special per se, maybe eventful would be a better word. But every year that passes adds new meaning to life because at every single point in our lives, we’re all learning something new. My eighteenth birthday till now, I guess the three most poignant memories I have are that of A levels (torture to the max, it tortures you in every possible way – psychologically, emotionally, physically, spiritually), JJ passing on and A level results (torture to the max again, this time it’s because it eats away your sleep, causes you to develop dark rings around the eyes, scares you to death with the premonition that you might just fail and disappoint your loved ones). God, I’m such a true blue Singaporean, every thing that really matters to me are all concerned with grades.
Birthdays have never been something big in my family – it’s usually just a casual meal. Not that I mind because as we all know, during birthdays, you play GOD and everyone more or less has to do to your bidding. HEH. It’s quite fun. My friends usually ask me out too and that’s really what adds that dash of sweetness to my entire day. And then there are all those birthday wishes that warm the cockles of my heart and make me feel all fuzzy because I know there are people our there who care enough to remember, although they would be relying on some gadget or another. These days, “I forgot” has been relegated to the worst excuse ever because we have so many gadgets to help us remember – from our handphones to Facebook to Friendster to whatever electronic calendar that we possess. Yup, it’s a pretty wired world out there. So it’s quite hard to say “I forgot”. It would sound very lame indeed.
