Yesterday after that hiong badminton session, my dad actually came home early to take the family out for swimming! Rare! So there I was off to swim my 20 leisure laps even though the badminton game had eaten away a rather substantial part of my energy. Then again, I simply adore swimming. A pity our swimming lessons in Temasek was a mere one term, which if you come to think about it, is pretty short-lived.
After dinner, my dad finally had the chance to satisfy his crab cravings at Big Eater, the one near Simpang Bedok. I’m not a big fan of seafood but I tagged along anyway for the un-marine foodstuffs. The dude there recommended this drink that my dad loves – apple with honeydew and sour plum bits. It’s got this really refreshing taste because it’s a concoction of juices but it costs $4. And you can actually DIY: Cut the fruits, blend them, serve... Ta dah! While we were dining, there was this super irritating fly that kept buzzing around, and this eventually led Darrell and me into this really animated conversation about how to deal with the problem of having flies in an open-air concept restaurant like this. I mean, haven’t you wondered? If there are those persistent flies that don’t seem to have any inclination whatsoever to leave you alone so you can enjoy dinner, what then? And what can the waiters do? Help you whack the fly, yeah right, like they’re any faster than you are. Darrell mentioned that in Cambodia, when he went for some school trip, the waiters plant themselves at the entrance and in their hands you’ll find those electric fly beaters. This is to enable them to swat those flies which literally swarm the place in the Cambodian restaurants. Imagine. HAHA! So in Singapore, Darrell’s solution was that they have frogs trained to eat flies. So the thing is this, they’ll have those trained frogs placed on your table so it can eat any flies that happen to be passing by. It just got more and more absurd as the conversation wore on. Dinner yesterday was completely hilarious.
So today morning was the run with AJ! It was fun – we didn’t complete the course I usually took but we still had a pretty scenic route nonetheless. When you’re at the beach, every where’s pretty calm and serene, makes jogging a treat! But then there was the morning sun that was peeping out from behind the clouds already, it got up bright and early today. It usually doesn’t reveal itself until much later. During the jog, we could actually have some sort of conversation going on, but that probably explains why we only managed to jog 3km. Jogging with another person is super fun actually, notwithstanding the nagging my dad had to partake in the previous night when he learned about this. Oh and AJ, thanks once again for the movies that you helped burned. I watched ‘Rachel Getting Married’ just now! ^^
My mum baked a cake today! Two actually, two mini ones! One’s brimming with raisins, and the other with almond nuts. I like the latter better because it’s not so sweet. The cakes really look just Adorable, and it tastes so damn good! To think it’s only her second attempt, goodness, Mummy you rock! She says she can also bake me my birthday cake! YAY, finally my family will have a cake to cut on my birthday, I’m thrilled!
Those who’ve seen me on MSN recently would see this pm of mine: If all the nations in the world are in debt, where did the money go? I was actually quite pleasantly surprised when it elicited a response from some friends. The answers were all really interesting, but the most amusing one was when one guy said something about the money being turned into hell notes. Okay, my putting it like this probably makes it sound more strange than entertaining. Never mind.
Oh and guess what! I finally got a job – as a relief teacher back at Changkat! Aw, the clerk Ms Cecilia called just now to tell me the good news. This is really awesome, I get to contribute back to my alma mater. I just hope I can cope with whatever comes my way man. Changkat, those who’ve been there and stayed there can tell you what it’s like. But hey! The school’s wayyyyy better these days!
And its TWO MORE DAYS to NINETEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! XD
