Love Prevails?

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. I gotta say it does live up to its name of being a ‘feel good’ movie, where the good triumph over all odds and the baddies ultimately fail. Aww. One thing that I really liked was the fact that the setting was in the slums of India and that’s something you don’t get to see often in movies. Kudos to the directors and geniuses behind the scenes who made the whole set come to life, the whole production such a pleasurable experience.

And I especially loved the scene where Jamal waves euphorically to Latika, who was on the train platform one storey below. THAT, was an amazing scene. As in Latika, played by Freida Pinto, was so stunningly gorgeous as she stood smiling so brightly at Jamal, you could feel their chemistry; you could almost taste that magical spark that exists only between the truest of lovers. Pretty, pretty, PRETTYYY! And Jamal, played by Dev Patel, looks pretty good looking as the movie goes along. He’s the kinda guy who doesn’t look good on first glance, but the more you look at him, the better looking he gets. Even his rounded ears look cute.

Halfway during my feel-good movie event, my Uncle kindly bought my cousins and I prata for dinner. GOODNESS ME! The prata is damn good. He says it’s one of those typical ‘long-queue’ prata stalls at Upper Thompson where my Aunt’s church is. I admit I’m not a fan of really oily and greasy stuff like prata, but this one is really hard to resist. The circumference of the prata is so crispy, it makes the taste really delicious, and the dough of the prata is firm, not like some where the prata’s so thin, it takes only a mouthful to finish it up. I LOVE my prata dinner today. L can so identify with me I bet, he and his prata cravings with his prata gang.

And today, B dropped me an SMS. It’s like, one of those out of the blue SMSes which you receive but you feel so happy because you know that a friend out there, whom you haven’t contacted in a pretty long time, actually thought about you! Thanks man, I appreciate it! You made my day! Perhaps it’ll be my turn to drop in and say ‘Hi’ the next time, but I’ll be calling you Brain. And yesterday, K say ‘Hi’ too on MSN. Aww. And today, I said ‘Hi’ too! It’s nice, really, to catch up with older acquaintances but the timing’s pretty sad. Everyone has to come say ‘HI’ just as my A level results are gonna be out. Which means they’ll be expecting me to update them on how poorly I’ve done. DAMN, this is bad.

Anyway, my dad sent me one of those chain emails today which I thought reflected the bane of society-that of taking things for granted. Enjoy.

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her, 'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.
