Speech Day (really had a friggin' long speech)

Friday: The shortest day of the week – only THREE classes! I'm so happy! My first class’s a Malay class. I was supposed to conduct a test but I couldn’t answer all their questions because it was in Malay. Can’t blame me riiiiiiight...

My second class, I gave them work handed to me by Bing Sheng. I swear they’re not exactly fond of him because one guy remarked, “He keep stealing other teacher’s lessons. English we do Math, PE we also do Math, now Science we’re doing Math! Wa lao eh...!” But Bing Sheng doesn’t really bother also, obviously, I mean he has he obligations too. Since they had nothing to do, why not do some work right? But the ‘fierce’ dude who openly expressed his displeasure actually completed his work the fastest, that really caught me by surprise. And because they had time left, I showed them the most epic fighting scene of Ip Man (yes, AGAINNNN!!!)

After that, it was a free period. I went to find Atikah in the HOD room. I saw one of my students there; he has to sit there due to certain reasons... Anyway, he had lunch today with the teachers and he kept cracking us up with his really innocent replies. A really adorable fella, very good-natured and very well endowed with baby fats, so pinch-able! =D

My final class, I was so tired already. I slept super late last night because I reached home after the dinner at 11 plus. So I went in and the class was so rowdy. During lesson time while I was going through the slides, the guys kept shouting and I felt so sad because I could see that some of them wanted to LISTEN to the lesson. It was so hard to keep everything in check. After they had done their work, WORST STILL – like a freaking playground. I shouted for them to maintain order, using the really pissed off cum crestfallen look, and it finally got around that ‘Cher angry already’. They look so endearing sitting in their seats trying not to make me angry any further but because I was so tired, I just stood in front without talking for quite long. I had no energy left to even crack a smile. Finally did the very typical pep talk about maintaining order and giving respect before the bell rudely cut me off. Some just couldn’t wait to scoot off but some went like, ‘WOI! Listen to teacher laa...’ So there! My final lesson of the week. I almost thought I was gonna shed those angry tears. I guess it happens. After four weeks, first time I'm so bloody tired. It happens. Atikah’s experienced it a couple of times already but Rach can probably protect herself from such nonsense.

I met Alex and Bing Sheng who were heading across the street to buy bubble tea. I wanted to just tag along for fun but I had to tutor the China girl, so I stayed behind. The girl’s diction is getting better! She can now pronounce her ‘r’, ‘s’ and ‘x’ more clearly! I'm so happy for her, good, we’re on track! When those two returned, Bing Sheng came over to pass me a bubble tea – so sweet of them! It really perked up my day. After tutoring her, I went over to chit-chat with them for a bit before we all left school together.

I went over to tutor my cousin but since there was Speech Day, I realised I wouldn’t have time for tuition. So technically, I went there just to give her homework, before I zao. I took my Dad’s car to school and on the way, we picked up Rach and Zul at the bus stop.

On our way there, we saw this bunch of students puffing happily away on their cigarettes. My Dad mused, “Those kids, smoking so happily, they think life is so showy. If I was Superman, I would X-ray their lungs and show them how it’s deteriorated!” I laughed at his expression, and at the same time, all the friends whom I know smoke came to mind. I felt this painful twinge of sadness, both for them and their families...

I felt super high during Speech Day today! I didn’t realised until Rach ask me, “Why you so happy today?” I guess it’s the whole atmosphere. Oh, Mr Goh came back but he left early and I didn’t get the chance to say ‘Hi!’ =( Anyway, that couldn’t dampen my spirits because like I said, I was exceptionally happy. I went around during the reception congratulating every familiar, and even unfamiliar faces, that I knew. SO FUN! Oh and guess what?! I saw Ms Tricia Lim! I remember the last time I saw her, I took a photo with her. And she remembers my name, and surname even! AWWWW! We’re so lucky to have seen her. But I joked with her that she was the lucky one, because she got to see us ex-students instead! Zul, Rach, Atikah and myself =D *grins*

I just talked to my student online, the one who calls me ‘Chio Bu Cher’ in school -.- And I told him it’s disrespectful to call someone that, and he actually stopped. I'm glad he doesn’t give me a hard time, because he can be nasty. But he tries hard to be ‘guai’ during my lessons, so I truly appreciate that.

GOSH, typing so much is tiring la! Back pain, hand pain, brain cells goneeeee~!
