Happiness in an entry (gotta be the longest yet!)

Wednesday: I actually went out with my Grandma and Mum to IMM to jalan jalan! We had Ajisen and I swear their special noodles or something is really quite good. It’s not quite your typical Jap food and the unique flavour of the noodles sits very well with my tongue man! After dinner, we did a little window shopping and we found this push cart selling prettay funkay clothes at ten bucks! Yes, I always go for such cheaper clothes but hey, they look good. So my mum got me this two tops.

Thursday: I went cycling with Jerome at ECP! I did the Bedok to Changi Village to Bedok loop again but this time, the both of us accomplished that within 3 hours! HA! So amazing. And poor Jerome, firstly he had to wait super duper long to get his bike because there were this bunch of little kids from I forgot what primary school who came before us to rent bikes, like 20 or so. Waste time. And then the bike he got, the wiring was loose so they had to change it. Waste some more time. Finally, the one they gave him, the moment he started riding on it, there’s this super squeaky sound due to extra friction on the front wheel and he sounded like he was squashing rats the whole way. Haha, it was hard not to cast him sideway sinister glances. I bet he was mad at me, but the fact is, it was still funny. As we were saying BYE BYE, he gave me a present! Thank you so very much for remembering; yes I know you didn’t rely on any gadgets! So after the exhausting little road trip, I had to go buy lunch for my family. It was then I realised the shortest route home was having to carry my bike up the 88 steps leading to my house. I decided to try being a ‘hero’. I actually pushed the bike up the super steep slope next to the steps and I SWEAR, MY GOODNESS, it was probably the most tiresome thing I’ve done in a really long time. It’s so much steeper than it looks and with all my barang barang, I felt such a heavy burden weighing down on me – literally. I kept praying for myself not to let the bike slide down the hill and I pressed so tightly against the brakes my hands got pretty calloused. GEEZ, it was not fun. When I FINALLY reached the summit, relief literally flooded through me, along with my perspiration which drenched me. Accomplished! But damn friggin’ tired.

After that, I met AJ who came down to pass me my present! THANKS a bunch Commando! And the confidence that you should have had in your present is not unfounded, so no worries! Dinner with 2E1 love was later that evening. So I took the time to rest my weary body, ahhh, even sitting down on the chair was so relaxing – heck Osim and whatever massage chair there is in the market these days.

I met the guys at Parkway Fish & Co. for dinner at around 7pm! Due to certain reasons, both the other girls couldn’t make it so it was just me and 12 other really sweet friends who took the time off to come down. It wasn’t really a birthday dinner per se; still it was nice being able to meet them the day before I turn nineteen. They got me presents: Sean, Seekai, D, R, P, T got me bodyshop items, it was very sweet of them! After dinner, I borrowed Raymond’s phone to take pictures with all of them – funnnn man! There was Raymond (duh!), Weesam, Steven, Sean, Jinwei, Seekai, Yuzhong, Timothy, D, R, P, T. HEH. We then strolled to Marine Cove to have a mini chit-chat session, I say mini because only seven of the guys came. After which, one of them drove the bunch of us home and they were so cute! The car started rolling along very very slowly as it neared my house and I couldn’t get why as first, but later I realised they were waiting for 12 midnight to arrive. When it did, they spontaneously burst into a chorus, or cacophony, of HAPPY BIRTHDAY in 3 languages! Haha! It was very amusing, and very endearing. I’m thankful to have been blessed with the knowledge of having known them. THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!

Friday: After I arrived home, Darrell gave me his birthday present! I was pleasantly surprised because that bugger never really gets me stuff so this year, he made an effort and he got me this really cool biker jacket! I’m in love with it. Only downside is, it’s gonna be really warm man, that much I can only be too sure of. And his friend Weihua got me this limegreen plush dolphin that’s very nice to cuddle. It’s so thoughtful of him. It’s weird how I’m actually close to a couple of his friends, so much so Herrick, Jun Yi and Jarrel Seah actually wished me Happy Birthday.

Later that day, after scholarship application crap, Leonard came down to pass me something. Thanks! You know I don’t mind that you didn’t manage to do what you think I’d have liked, it’s the thought that counts! And I know you mean it!

Blah, dinner. Okay, end of day.

Saturday: I was psyched about meeting my girlfriends but as luck had it, circumstances didn’t permit us from doing so once more. I arranged with Darrell to go out with his friends – Jun Yi, Herrick, Matthew, Johnny, Sera, Godwin, Cleon. But I dropped by the IDP exhibition booth at Suntec before that while Darrell went ahead to meet his friends first. So because my detour entailed more travelling, we actually switched EZ-link cards so we could save on my travelling fare. It was very funny. Luckily they don’t really have a way to check on MRT trains. I hurried my way there to Suntec and back to Plaza Singapura to arrive just in time for the movie at 2pm – Detroit Metal City! I went down to the food court but to my utmost dismay, the Eggy thingy that was once sold there , and that is/was/always will be a pure favourite of mine could no longer be found. SIGH. Now my only source of that wonderful snack is GONE! Okay fine, so I rather not have lunch. Off to the movie and it is so CRAZY! F*** was said like a million times in the show and a couple of Darrell’s friends were chanting along with the movie, at the parts like ‘Go to DMC!’ and the singing of the theme song, both the heavy metal one and the super loveable cutey pie one. Kenichi Matsuyama is hilarious in the show. Such a drastic change from the L character he portrayed! Those of you who’ve watched it would know what I mean =D Let’s GO TO DMC~!!!

Herrick and Jun Yi actually bought me a pair of earrings! They are really such a dear. So after that, they moved on to their usual haunt, the arcade at PS MRT station there. I wasted some time away there observing them play games I will never master nor even come close to understanding, but I daresay I’m learning to appreciate! Dinner was at NYNY at Cityhall! Ange and Eehwee got me clothes – they have such awesome fashion sense I swear! Thank you, my dears! =) Dinner was really fun because more than half the class turned up! 14 people eh, but 9 were the guys la. Only Ange, Eehwee, Kylie, Amelia and myself made up the girl population. Still, I had tons of fun! It’s so nice seeing all of them again, even the ones with a teeny weeny bit of hair. I was just mentioning to Linc how we should have this every month or so – it’s good fun. A good way to spend time. YUP! I shall start trying to organise it. I had better make my word good. And because it was my birthday this month, we signed up for the membership and we got all sorts of perks for dinner. Quite worth it, I even got a bottle of 2007 South African red wine as a complimentary gift to bring home to my Dad.

After dinner, we headed to Harry’s bar at Suntec. Exorbitant place, no wonder so little people patronise them. So we chilled for a while there and only a couple of us ordered drinks. Yay, we don’t let them earn! Kylie and Amelia left first, followed by us three. Eehwee needed to meet her friends for clubbing while Ange and I headed home. That concludes another simply awesome dinner!

I arrived home to yet another surprise! My brother got me this three SUPER DUPER CUTE AND FUNKAY AND ADORABLE AND ETC. shirts from threadless tees. I love you BROTHER! You’re so many miles away yet I’m still always on your mind – I’m honoured! =)

Sunday: My lovely cousins from USA arrived yesterday and I’m gonna meet them today! AW I missed them so! It’s been a year since I last saw them, time really goes by too quickly; it almost goes by unnoticed until you actually stop and stare at the second hand ticking away furiously. It’s never gonna stop, whether you like it or not. So I should move on, and be happy. No dwelling on negative thoughts, that’s plain dumb. Easier said than done but at least I’m empowered with that knowledge.

It’s been a long entry. It’s been a helluva roller coaster birthday ride. But get it, it’s over. And it’s put much for me into perspective – now I finally see.

Thank you all for rendering those special birthday wishes. It means a lot! =)

PS: Oyes! I dyed my hair back to black! Jerome said now I look more Chinese, less Ah Lian-ish, HAHA!
